It is the goal of the NH Fastbreak organization to eventually get the cost to participate in the program down to almost nothing, if not completely free. This can be accomplished by offsetting the costs with sponsorships and fundraisers. As a growing organization, we are not quite there yet. This is the first year that we have actively pursued getting sponsorships from companies. So, in the meantime, what can a player expect to have to pay to participate? This is a difficult question to answer before the teams are together and have decided what tournaments to go to, who the coach will be, and how often the team will practice. The final cost will also depend on how much money can be raised through sponsors and fundraising. It is reasonable to assume however that overall cost this coming season will most likely be between $450 and $650 per player. Younger teams will typically pay less than the older teams, mainly due to the addition of more tournaments for the older players.
Expenses
The majority of the expenses come from practices, tournaments, uniforms, and coach’s stipend. The estimated expenses per player listed below are based on 10 players per team.

The cost of practices will depend on how many hours per week and which courts are used. Most teams will practice for 12 weeks. The Head Coaches are all professionals and are paid a stipend depending on their experience level. In some cases where the Assistant Coach is a professional, they may be paid a small stipend. We usually try and keep the cost of the uniforms down to a minimum of reasonable quantity. If we can get a manufacturer of sportswear as a sponsor, we may be able to get higher quality uniforms at a lower cost. The tournament costs vary greatly in the number and amount per tournament. Equipment for the teams is minimal. It should be noted also that the cost of attending and traveling to tournaments is not included.
Income
There are three sources of income for the teams; sponsorships, fundraising, and parent’s payments. As mentioned, we are starting a sponsorship program this season, and it remains to be seen how successful we will be in the current economy. We are going to be spending a lot of time trying to get as many sponsors as we can. It is impossible to predict at this point in time how many that will be this year. As we get a better idea, we will update this page.
Our major fundraiser is the tournament that we host at the SportsZone. Previously this has netted us several thousands of dollars. The amount we raise will be largely dependent on the number of teams that we get to participate and the level of raffling we are able to do. In addition to this, teams are encouraged to hold their own fundraising events. There is no limit to the amount of fundraising that each team can do. The funds raised by the tournament will be used to lower all players’ costs, whereas the team fundraiser’s profits will go only to those teams that raised the funds. Teams that are travelling to tournaments outside the region are encouraged to participate heavily in fundraising to help keep the costs down.
Financial Aid
For those players that can demonstrate a financial need, financial aid from the organization will be provided. Most of this money will come from sponsorships. Financial aid can vary from a partial amount up to the full amount of participation. For those players that think they will need financial assistance, please contact our Director of Finance, Scott McKinney. Financial assistance must be requested at the time of application on the Tryout Form before a player is picked for a team.
