11U NH FASTBREAK TEAM WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to the 11U team for a hard-
fought victory in the championship game
against the Spartans to win the NH State
Title today! All of their games were close
ones, but they managed to hang on and come
out on top. Great job to the team and coach.
Worth mentioning were the 14U-L team that lost
a close game in the championship against a
tough Mass/NH Rivals team. This game could
have gone either way, but the Rivals came
out on top. Congratulations on a 2nd place
finish.
Unfortunately, the 10U team could not enter
as there were no other teams to challenge them.
It’s too bad, because I’m sure they would have
won also.
MAY/JUNE CALENDARS UPDATED
The May and June calendars have been updated
with practice times and courts.
All times have been confirmed with the SportsZone. Please check the courts for each practice as some nights the teams are on different courts.

STILL LOOKING FOR 12U PLAYERS
The competition is stiff for 12U players in the local towns surrounding Derry. There are at least 6 known teams in the area at this age division! We still have openings on our 12U roster. If you are a 12U player looking for an AAU team to get on, please contact Tim Finnegan for an appointment.
FIRST PRACTICE SCHEDULE IS NOW SET
Teams will be having their first practice next week at the SportsZone in Derry. We will also be having a Parent Meeting during this first practice. At least one parent for each player should plan on attending this practice for the meeting. NH FASTBREAK WELCOMES NEW COACHES TO THE STAFF
Unfortunately, Coach Coleman (12U) had decidedto leave the NH Fastbreak. However, we are
very fortunate to welcome Coach Jeff White as
his replacement. Click here for more info.
Since we are forming two 14U teams, we needed
to find another coach at this age division.
Coach Russel Love will be taking the 14U Elite L team,
and we welcome back returning Coach Terry
Mann who will be taking the 14U Elite M team.
Although we have not had our 15U, 16U, and
17U tryouts yet, we are working on lining up
the coaches for these teams. We are fortunate
to add Coach Casey Roop to our staff as the
new 15U coach.
MULTI-PLAYER DISCOUNT DETAILS
If you have two boys in the program, the
youngest player will pay full price, but the
older player will receive a 10% discount. If
you have 3 boys in the program, the youngest
player will pay full price, the next older
one will receive a 10% discount, and the oldest
one will receive a 25% discount. If you have
4 boys in the program, the same rules apply
for the first 3, but the oldest one will
receive a 50% discount!
12U-14U TEAMS SELECTED AFTER TRYOUTS
Unfortunately, with such a good response at
the tryouts, we could not get all candidates
on a team. We decided to keep all of the
rosters to 10 players. Some candidates had
to be cut, but others are being placed on a
ranked waiting list. All players currently
on the rosters must complete the Commitment
Form (which can be found here) and submit it
along with a non-refundable deposit NO LATER
THAN Saturday, February 20 to lock in their
position on the team. Players not doing so
will be removed from the roster and replaced
with the next person on the waiting list.
The form and deposit can be mailed to the
address on the form, or in order to facilitate
collection of these, there will be someone
at the SportsZone office this week to collect
them at the following times:
| Tim Finnegan |
Monday, Feb. 15 |
6:30-7:30 PM |
| Jim Schwalbe |
Thursday, Feb. 18 |
8:00-9:00 PM |
| Scott McKinney |
Friday, Feb. 19 |
7:30-8:30 PM |
Candidates still on the waiting list after
Saturday will be kept on the list until March
1, 2010 at which point we will consider the
rosters finalized. Anyone wishing to be removed
from the waiting list, please inform us and we
will accommodate.
Because we had so many qualified candidates at
the 14U level, we decided to form two teams for
this age division; the 14U Elite L team (for Coach
Love) and the 14U Elite M team (for Coach Mann).

The New Hampshire Fastbreak, a boys AAU basketball program since 2004 based out of the Derry SportsZone, will be back in 2010 as anindependent non-profit organization that provides the highest level of competition for boys at the elementary and high-school level in the southern and central New Hampshire region. Along with co-founders Jim Schwalbe and Mike Onett running the organization, Londonderry High School JV coach, Tim Finnegan has been added to the staff as Coaching Director. In addition, Scott McKinney has joined the staff as Director of Finance.
This strong experienced team will be able to offer the most competitive play to the top players in the region offering the best opportunity to prepare them for high-school and college-level play. Some of the benefits uniquely offered by the NH Fastbreak compared to other competing organization are:
- Volunteer-run non-profit organization. All funds go toward the players.
- In addition to a generous financial aid program, corporate sponsorship will lower costs for all players.
- Six-year relationship with the Derry SportsZone.
- Coaches and staff are all local to the Greater Derry area.
- Our high school and college-level coaches will only be coaching one team, so they can give their full focus to that team (no parent head coaches).
- Elite “AAU-caliber” players only. One team per age division.
- Four hours of practice at the SportsZone per week with one team per court at all times.
- Only one or two tournaments held at the SportsZone for fundraising purposes with the profits lowering the season’s cost for all players.
- Tournaments will not be dictated. Individual teams can decide how many and which tournaments they go to around the Northeast Region.
This program was founded to provide the best basketball experience possible. We are confident that our leadership has made the best decision to carry on as an independent basketball club. In order to offer select teams, we will work closely with coaches that will assist in our program. We honor the high school programs and want to provide the greatest outreach for training possible. This was our decision and was made with the best intent to support our boys in their future endeavors. If you have any questions, concerns or need clarification please let us know. We look forward to seeing you all next season.
